Denis Phan is a Post & Telecommunications Administrator, Doctor
in Economics, CNRS Senior Research Engineer at the
GEMAS (Groupe d'étude des Méthodes de l'Analyse Sociologique, CNRS &
Université Paris IV Sorbonne). His
previous position was Senior Researcher
CREM (2004-2006) and
Associate Professor in Economics at ENST de Bretagne (1993-2006).
Corresponding research interests was in the economics of
telecommunications, the software industry and regulation. Denis Phan has
published papers and various books in this field (TIC
papers). Since 2000 his main research interest have been cognitive
and computational economics & social sciences (ACE, cognitive economics and complex systems papers).
In the field of computational economics, Together
with Antoine Beugnard,
a computer scientist, Denis Phan built Moduleco, a modular
multi-agent platform designed to simulate markets, organisations, social
phenomena and population dynamics. This software is actually maintained
at the University of Manchester (Computer Science Department) by
Gilles Daniel. In an endeavour to unify existing agent-based
platforms, Moduleco becomes a MadKit
plugin by may, 2004, in cooperation with Jacques Ferber. Others works
include emergence in artificial society in co-operation with
Jean Louis Dessalles.
In the field of cognitive economics and complex
systems, Denis Phan works in co-operation with physicists Jean Pierre Nadal and Mirta
Gordon as an associate member of CENECC : CENtre d'Etudes des systèmes
Complexes et de la Cognition (Center for the Study of Complex Systems
and Cognition) at the ENS. Denis Phan Jean Pierre Nadal and Mirta Gordon
work also with economist
Roger Waldeck on the emergence of cooperation in communities.
Denis Phan has recently organized three main
researchers school in the field of complex system dynamics & multi-agent
system applied to Social and Human Science (SHS):
Agay 2004, together with Jean Pierre Nadal and
Gérard Weisbuch;
Porquerolles 2005, together with
Frederic
Amblard and
Nils Ferrand, and LaLonde
2007, together with
Frederic Amblard,
Arnaud Banos,
Anne
Bretagnolle, Eric Darmon,
Eric Daude,
Enrico Scalas and
Celine
Vacchiani-Marcuzzo. From This schools, we published introductory books
on MAS modeling and simulation in Human and Social Sciences. One in French (Amblard,
Phan, 2006) at Hermes-Lavoisier and a partial but enhanced
translation in English (Phan, Amblard, 2007) at The Bardwell Press,
Oxford.
Since Januray, 2007 Denis Phan is head of the
ANR-CORPUS project "Corpus of Ontologies for
Multi-Agents Systems in Geography, Economics, Marketing and Sociology"
(COSMAGEMS). In this context, coauthorship include Jacques Ferber, Pierre Livet, Jean Pierre Müller, Lena Sanders and Franck Varenne. Since 2009, he is member of the ABR-Syscom project "Urban Collective Dynamics: Individual and Spatial Heterogeneities (DyXi) coordinated by Jean Pierre Nadal
